Matthew week 18

Matthew 5:1-5 ESV

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:6 ESV

6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

“Justification is an act of God whereby He pronounces a sinner to be righteous because of that sinner’s faith in Christ. It does not describe the way that God inwardly renews and changes a person. It is, rather, a legal declaration in which God pardons the sinner of all his sins and accepts and accounts the sinner as righteous in His sight.”

Romans 3:21-26 NASB

21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 but it is the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus,25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished;26 for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Acts 16:30-31 NASB

30 and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 3:20 NASB

20 because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB

21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Hebrews 10:14 NIV

14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Hebrews 10:14 ESV

14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Romans 6:10-14 NIV

10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Psalm 37:6 ESV

He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,

and your justice as the noonday.
